Some people love video games, others love to dance, but nothing is more gratifying to me than knowing that I truly made a difference in someone’s life. I love to help others, and that is why I want to become a nurse. Nursing is that look in an elderly woman’s eye as you become her only form of support. Nursing is the self-satisfaction as you watch a perfectly healthy child leave the hospital after months of tender care. Nursing is the difference you can make as you teach a disabled man to walk again. So many people in this world get discouraged because of an illness or disability and it limits them from their full potential. As a nurse, not only will I work with my patient’s physical barriers, but their emotional obstacles in order to reach their full potential. With the knowledge and tools that I gain at the University of Michigan, I plan on traveling to Germany to work in an American military base hospital for several years before continuing to get my master’s degree. I am passionate about serving my country and think that our troops deserve to be in the best hands possible. It is my goal to help save as many lives as possible for these men and women who bravely sacrificed themselves to defend each and every one of us. As I help these men and women, they will be the ones saving me with the knowledge that I truly made a difference.
