If I could live off making music I would. As a matter of fact, I plan to do just that. Music is an integral part of my life. It has been for the fifteen years actually. However, I am not attending school to study music. One reason in particular, is that studying what you love can hinder the creative aspects that make you drawn to it in the first place.
I was merely eight years old when I discovered my affinity for the performing arts. I played the trombone for ten years and also explored other instruments as I grew to understand musical scales and different rhythms, as well as different styles of music. I even experimented with different instruments, mainly, the drums and keyboard. I now understand that music is a language all in its own. It can be used to reach the unreachable. In other words, I could garner the attention of those who grew up in a different tongue than I have.
I now make music using a computer program called Ableton. It gives you the ability to utilize an assortment of instruments. I plan on making my own record label. I would allow all artists to be signed. Not just those who share the same genre of music that I specialize in. Music being used to reach those who would otherwise not listen to you is not a new thing. It would me allow to bring together people of different creeds, ethnicities etc.
