The perfect career for me would be a hybrid of a neuroscience practitioner, where I can interact with the patients themselves, and a neuroscientist, where I can conduct research based off the data collected from the patients. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience so that I can help people with mental disorders either through research or working with them personally. I want to learn how and why particular mental disorders exist and not just what can be done to treat them but what can be done to cure them. Mental disorders have such negative impacts on not only the lives of the victims but also their families and friends. I have seen lives wither away before my very eyes and I know the effects of mental deterioration which is why I am determined to learn and help and heal and do all that is in my power to fight the battle for our minds. In order to achieve these goals, I intend to obtain a B.S. in Neuroscience and then go on to medical school and become a Physician Assistant. This career seems optimal because there are positions that would allow me to work with the patients directly as well as ones where I would assist in research. Hence, the perfect career for me would be a hybrid of a neuroscience practitioner and a neuroscientist.
