I find that two things I am most passionate about are music and dance. When I was younger, I danced in the junior division of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. It was a wonderful experience and if hadn’t so adamant about my education and more passionate about dance, I would have chosen to continue through high school and college. If I could earn a living doing what I love most, it would be to dance! Music has a special connection within the human body, mind, and soul that moves your emotions so effortlessly and graciously. Dancing takes you physically through a journey of the music’s rhythmic patterns and tells a story of the composer’s emotions. Whether it be hip hop and rap or smooth jazz and classical ballet, dancing brings all walks of life to a commonplace. The most intriguing thing about the unique art of dance is how it can be interpreted in any form of fashion. Slightly tapping the foot can transform into the prance of the century with a simple slide or twist. Songs like the “Cha-Cha Slide” and the “Cotton-Eyed Joe” make group dances so enjoyable as well as memorable. Dance is the beautiful form of celebration.
If I had the opportunity to influence the world with what I love most, I would try to incorporate dance into everyday lives. I envision a dance station within dance studios and/or gyms in major cities around the world in every country. This dance station would incorporate all sorts of music from around the globe. When one person enters the dancing station, they would be able to choose their genre of music or type in a song they may have in mind. Before the song begins to play, the person would have the option to learn dance steps previously recorded from a selection of videos or make their own and record them for some else to learn. Once everything on the station has been selected, the person grabs a pair of headphones from the side of the station and begins to DANCE! If by any chance someone else would like to join them all they would need to do is grab a pair of cordless headphones from the same station and tag along. Not only does this idea spread the love of music and dances, it offers other people the opportunity to network and share their common likes. With enough time and money, the dance stations would be an amazing sensation around the globe!
