In middle school I had a close friend who abused herself on a daily basis. I did what I could to make sure she knew how important she is on this world. In high school I joined “Students Against Destructive Decisions Club” and initiated activities that raised awareness on teen suicide. We made activities that elaborated on the influence of things such as bullying and drugs to students that could lead to teen suicide. This has been my passion and I feel content knowing I have made a difference in my school.
What truly drives me in achieving the goal of letting teens know their lives are worth living is the satisfaction of helping someone feel compassion especially if they are not feeling that way at home. Showing that I care and truly have interest in their lives not only helps them but allows me to do what I love. In every stage of your life one should have a motivation to do something and to live which is what I focus on telling any student. My goal is to continue helping young people realize this by becoming a social worker. I cannot imagine doing anything else in my life and I feel ecstatic that I can help more people on a larger scale in my future. Today, my middle school friend is doing well and knows how valuable she is. This satisfaction of helping someone leaves me eager to do more good in this world and I am preparing myself in order to do so.
