I love graphic design, teaching, and technology. My desire is to teach the elderly the basics of surfing the internet and the safe use of computers. With the advancement of technology everything is moving towards computer knowledge. Banking, bill paying, and shopping has made conversions to the internet. Seniors would not have to leave home or entrust their information to a stranger. Teaching seniors safe browsing, safe banking, and bill paying would change the world one senior at a time. Increasing the knowledge of senior’s citizens of the World Wide Web would result in decreasing the ability of predators taking advantage of the elderly by cutting down cybercrime.
The goals that I have set to make this dream a reality started with my return to college. As a person approaching the senior citizenship age, I have become aware that a large amount of people my age and older do not have the basic knowledge computer operation and safety. Working in retail for 32 years and learning that even retail has advanced to the computer age with online applications and computerized registers. The elderly that wanted to apply for positions and were qualified but could not operate the computer to place an application. As a student of graphic and web design my goal is to set up a website with valuable information for seniors as well as applications for tutorials and classes. My goal may not be world changing but it will help seniors one computer at a time.
