If I could do what I loved for the rest of my life it would be technical theatre. It has brought so much happiness into my life now that I’ve found somewhere to belong. Sound engineering is my specialty. I love dissecting scripts and designing what it should sound like when put to stage. More specifically, I prefer designing musicals. I believe musicals draw people in more and get them involved in the show they are watching. I enjoy mixing all the different sounds that go into a staged musical from the vocals of the performers to all the instruments in the orchestra. It is something you really have to get an ear for.

If I could do this, I would change the world by bringing a better understanding of technical theatre to kids. It’s getting more and more common for technical theatre classes to be cut and/or for the acting side of theatre to be more glorified than the technical side. I believe kids would be more interested if they were just exposed to it. Many theatre classes don’t delve into what lighting, sound, scenic design, costuming, make up design, and technical direction mean. All of these things are forms of expression that kids could use to open themselves up to working with others to bring a collaborative work to fruition.
