“Earning a living” is a broad term. Conventionally, it refers to one’s ability to make money by performing some type of work. However, since I believe that one cannot truly “live” without being happy, I am going to define “earning a living,” personally, as “doing whatever ensures my lasting happiness.” Considering that what I love most is spending time with my wife and family, that is how I earn my living. It is what makes me happiest. As the parents of three children, we ARE changing the world, every minute of every day.

It is an unfortunate reality that there are far too few examples for children to follow these days when it comes to learning what a positive relationship should be. Children are going to grow up believing that what their parents do is the right way things should be done. Even when they become teenagers and temporary insanity forces them to act in counterpoint to everything their parents try to teach them, those childhood impressions last. My 21 year old daughter is proof of that. She has grown into a beautiful, self-respecting young woman who both respects and demands respect from those she spends her time with. I like to think that her mom and I had a small part in that.

If we continue to teach our younger two children by example, and the people they influence on their journey through life in turn learn from them, have we not changed the world for the better?
