If I could do what I love most, it would be to see people suffering be happy, specifically those suffering from cancer. Being a girl who lost a friend at the age of thirteen to brain cancer, I know the trauma, heartache, and pain this disease can cause. It is something no one should suffer. The loss I have suffered is what makes me want to make a difference in the world.
My dream would be to work toward finding a cure, but at the same time bring joy to those suffering from cancer by being a helping hand. In order to do so, I first need an education and lab experience to be able to research cancer. My intended biology major in college would be step one in making this dream a reality. After college, my next goal would be getting job in a research laboratory, spending countless hours doing detailed work and contributing as much as I could to help with the search for a cure.
Then, like I had also mentioned, I would want to work with the suffering, to help them through their battle. While I am in school and even after, I could find volunteer or intern positions to work with cancer patients, young and old. I would spend my free time with them, giving them whatever they need – a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, a friend to laugh with, etc.
What I would love to do is take people’s pain away.
