The thing I love the most is caring for my children. I would love to start a group home and care for youth who need a loving and supportive upbringing. The group home would be an average size and would house 20-30 youth ranging in all ages and would be a home for male and female youth. In order to achieve this goal, I would begin by finishing my degree in Human Services with an emphasis on youth and families. I would contact the county or the state to become an approved foster parent and speak with them about setting up a group home. I would do as much research as possible to see how I would be able to fund a group home so this could be my career. I would also see if I could find others who share the same passion and ideas about helping youth so we may help more youth if possible.
I currently work with youth placed in foster care in my current job and I see so many youth who need a positive role model and someone who shows they care and provides support in the goals they choose. If I could make a positive difference in one child’s life, they can pay it forward and show someone else how much they care. I believe this could be a small step towards changing society’s thinking and the way people treat each other.
