Everyone wants to live in a better world, but often it feels that we lack the ability or influence to make a difference. I am currently studying at Northern Arizona University for bio-medical science. It has always been a dream of mine to pursue a career in the medical field to help others and change lives. I just recently became interested in anesthesiology and what the profession ensues. Anesthesiologists are all about patient safety and care and one day, I will too. Although they assist medical professionals, it is the anesthesiologist’s job to validate that the patient is not awake and will feel no pain during any sort of operation. I have heard various “horror stories” about patient mistreatment and never want to be in a position to support that. I plan to acquire a bachelor degree, pass the MCAT, attend medical school, and become an anesthesiologist since I care about others well-being and safety. Of course, it is not at all an easy transition and will require years of schooling, multiple student loans and dedication. I excel when under pressure and with a heavy workload, so I know my drive and motivation will not stop me to achieve my dream. Steve Jobs said, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work,” therefore, I intend to succeed and use my degree to make the world a better place.
