While attending Temple University, I will be studying in the field of social work. My long term goal is to enter child services. If I am able to complete this goal, I will be able to wake up every day, knowing I have the job of my dreams. Child services may not be considered enjoyable, but the satisfaction I will have when I help a child or family in need, will be incredible. There are too many cases in which a minor is in an unfortunate situation, whether it be abuse, neglect, or simply malnourished. They have nowhere to go and nobody to turn to when they want to escape. Iv’e seen one of these cases first hand with my cousins. Their mother had a brain tumor and was barley able to function while her husband, my cousins’s step-father, abused them all both physically and sometimes sexually. For awhile, my cousins said nothing out of fear. They had nowhere to go in order to feel safe. There are hundreds of comparable cases. Being in child services would allow me to save these children and give them the safe place they need. I am fully aware will not be able to save every child, but I will try. I can help stop child abuse and prevent it from happening in the first place, changing the world one child’s life at time,
