If I could earn a living doing what I love most, I would be an elementary teacher in a Spanish-speaking country. One of the largest issues in these countries is the illiteracy rates. If a child has the foundation of being able to read and write, then so many more opportunities are opened up to them. They can have a better paying job so that they have the time and money to go to school. They can break the cycle of growing up in poverty. They can go on to not only better themselves and their families, but they can have the opportunity to change the world. Through teaching children to read and write, I hope to share the love of Jesus with not only the students, but their families also. Once the students have the tools of knowing how to read and write, they can share those with their parents. To make my dream come true, I am working on a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Elementary Education, and plan on doing my student teaching in Quito, Ecuador.
