The most important thing that I hope to accomplish in my life is to set an example of a strong and successful woman for my daughter. There are many ways for women to accomplish this goal, but for me, there is only one way – to become a doctor. The means to this end are challenging and many sacrifices will have to be made along the way. However, just to know that I embodied, what I believe to be some of the most important personal characteristics, in setting an example for my daughter, would make every day worth it. Becoming a physician means something very special to me. It means pursuing a dream, fighting against the odds, overcoming hardship, and persevering. These are the things that I want to teach my daughter to do. I don’t want to be the example that my parents were, where the lesson came from the old cliche “do as I say, not as I do.” I want to lead her by example, and the steps to do that must involve finding help from the outside. In order to focus on school, and continue to be a good mother, I know that I will need financial assistance. Pursuing a second Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, taking the MCAT, and applying for medical school in 2.5 years will be easy task, but I truly believe it is the path I must take to be the best version of myself, and the best role model I can be for my daughter. She will be the one to truly change the world, if I can be the example I know I need to be.
