Since a child, I have always wanted to be a Firefighter. I’ve grown up watching my dad work as a Firefighter/Paramedic, which has inspired me. During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to participate in a Fire Dept. internship. Since then, I have grown more passionate about being a Firefighter/Paramedic like my dad. This profession allows me to make big impacts and change lives and the world one call at a time by helping people. With a strong work ethic and the passion for duty, I can help saves lives and hopefully improve their quality of life.
The goals I have set to make this dream come true are being achieved. During my senior year in high school, I became a Utah state certified EMT. I had a chance to use the skills I learned in this class and apply it to my internship. The experience gained from real emergency calls and my association with patients and their families during my internship proved very valuable. I landed a job as an EMT, working local concerts and also got hired with Unified Fire Authority as a special events EMT. These little steps have opened a world of opportunities for me and now my goals are to obtain a college degree, receive my paramedic certification, and go through a fire academy to eventually be hired on full-time with the fire service! I am determined to make my dreams come true and I can’t wait for my future!
