A young mother in the struggle not knowing where meals would come from opened my eyes. I refused the system’s help & wanted to regain my position in life and exceed expectations. I suffered physical/verbal abuse from family & never knew what to expect as I suffered with depression, homelessness, suicide etc. I wanted to abort my pregnancy. I realized giving up doesn’t solve my problems-makes them worse. I excelled in academics to turn my life around. Today I assist teen mothers in similar situations not to give up on life but to fight back. I use my home as temporary shelter for teen moms. I teach them how to budget funds to save for housing, cars, etc. I teach extreme couponing so they can provide food. I donate my sons & I clothing for interviews & everyday wear. I purchase old laptops to donate & do mock interviews. We discuss hygiene importance, education, proper parenting, and more. I created a monthly calendar of fun-filled free activities for the kids/mom & do annual mommy & me backpacking trips. My goals are to obtain grant funding to continue my journey and go global. Teen moms who suffer abuse often feel unloved & rebel against their children; mistreating them. I want to teach the world kids are precious & innocent and deserve to be loved. Changing the world-while reducing death/violence rates of kids from parents. I want to open help centers- Loving ourselves first allows the ability to love others.
