People from any and all professions have the capacity to change the world. It may not always be the cliché of a life or death situation, but everyone has the potential to alter a few lives. I believe that a key way to promote change of any type is through example. I also believe that I am capable of promoting this type of advancement in young people today. I am an aspiring olympic and professional high jumper in the sport of track and field. Statistically, it seems extremely improbable that I, out of three hundred million could become a professional athlete. However, I have already taken the first steps to making my dream become a reality. I have competed for Team USA in an international competition in Donetsk, Ukraine. At the World Youth Championships, I placed 16th. My next goal is to make the junior team, and then the Olympics. Track and field is a sport in which people from all backgrounds, social classes, and body types can excel and succeed. With dedication and the courage to separate yourself from the pack, one can find success in great measures in track and field. When I was younger, I watched my heroes of track and field soar to new heights on a daily basis. I believe that this inspired me to emulate them the best I knew how. I believe that I could have the same effect on someone with little direction and a desire to be inspired.
