I would make a living being an academic counselor because it is something that I not only love, but something that I am extremely passionate about. My passion for helping others, comes from my heart because I do not have expectations for offering my advice or guiding others in the right direction. It means the world to me, to see a smile on a person’s face due to my helpfulness. My act of kindness is genuine, effortless and heartfelt, which is what sets me apart from others making me a unique individual. I understand what it is like to struggle every semester to buy book supplies, books for class, and be homeless because I am one of the individuals.
Being an Academic Counselor would change the world because a counselor assist students with setting their academic and career goals, by providing support, instilling faith and confidence in students dreams. One of the goals I would set for students to pursue their passion, would be to do extensive research on the field of their choice. Research is beneficial to understanding, what the duties and responsibilities are of the job, a person desires. Secondly, I would suggest volunteering to validate interest in the field of study, which would be appealing on a student’s resume. Lastly, I would highly recommend speaking with instructors in that profession and a mentor within the community to offer tips and advice to better assist students to pursuing their educational goals.
