As a child I dreamed of becoming a doctor. The high school I chose was named for health professions; they even required their students had 200 internship hours at a hospital before graduating. At 17, I became pregnant with my daughter. Looking into her eyes and seeing the innocence on her face gave me a renewed passion for medicine. I wish to graduate with my Bachelor’s in Psychology, while taking pre-health courses. After I receive my Bachelor’s, I am aiming for Medical School so that I can eventually become a Doctor of Public Health. I wish to give children I third world countries the amenities that we take for granted here in the US. My daughter has had fresh water and access to medical care from the day she was born and I want to bring my services where they are needed most. Winning this scholarship will not only put me closer to the career I dreamed of but it will bring me closer to those that need care the most.
