First, I would like to correct the prompt for my essay. It states “if”, and it should state “when”. The thing that I love most, that is not family and friends, is music. Not “if”, but “when” I am earning a living off of the music I will compose, people will hear the music that flows from my mind; and what is music if not inspiring. In truth I hope to inspire the world. Or at the very least those who will listen.

Listen to a piece of music, classical or modern, and wait for that moment where it strikes you deep in the soul. The chills that come after, race through your blood to all parts of your body. Suddenly all vigor you’ve lost over the year’s returns for fleeting seconds. It’s an experience I hope to give everyone who will listen to what I will compose. I believe that Man will unite not through words, but through music. When we all stop our feuds, and stop to listen, that is when we see that we truly are all the same.

In order to make my dream more than a dream, but reality, I have declared a Music Major at the University I attend. To help get my foot in the door, and my name known, I have written pieces and given them to various ensembles. I am currently working on a theme for UC Davis, so that occupies my mind now. I’m already on my way to greatness.
