For me, there has been no doubt; no opposing speculations whatsoever that I would have a fulfilling career as an author. Throughout my childhood I have dreamt of becoming an author, and if I could make a living off of writing, then I would want for nothing more.
Let’s face it; with the expansion of the internet, the reading of tangible materials has become a thing of the past. In fact, reading for pleasure in its entirety has all but become a lost art. I want to represent the youth of the world in a better light. Not as the obsessive social media documenters that my generation and those preceding it have been notorious for, but as those who have come to appreciate the simple arts as we used to. In my eyes, these simple arts include the art of reading and I want to bring this art back with the written word. I feel that, even if in a miniscule way, this would change the world and our outlook in it.
In order to make this dream come to fruition I have already begun to take the necessary steps. I am currently enrolled at The University of Central Oklahoma and have declared my major in English- Creative writing and plan to write throughout my college career just as I have done in the past. One day I will be published in more than just the local library’s newsletter, and on that day I will have achieved my dream.
