I have started on the road to my destiny and doing what I love most – cooking. I stopped my successful career in media and changed directions; I have gone from technology to food and enrolled in culinary school. I endeavor to understand the art, science, and business behind food production and product development. Once I have completed my studies in Culinary Arts, I am applying for a MS in Food Science. This step plus my previous experience and education in Marketing will bring me closer to my dream to help individuals’ development and bring to market their food creations, and educate others on the importance of healthier food alternatives.
I understand the importance of fresh foods and preserving the environment; I wonder how many people in low-income neighborhoods have the same access to information and healthy foods. Several studies have highlighted the need for more healthy food options in these areas. These options should be available in local grocery stores and not just at a farmers market that is open 2 or 3 days a week.
As a nation, our pharmaceutical industry has grown exponentially by capitalizing on treating the effects of poor health choices. My goal is to reverse this growth and allow our nation to capitalize on healthy choices.
