During the years that I was growing up, I was surrounded by information on the miracles that science and technology could perform in a developing country like India. By the time I reached high school, I was particularly fascinated by the role of electronics in everyday life. There has been immense progress in this field in recent years leading to more convenience at home and at work. My desire is to be an integral part of this development. As I have completed my undergraduate studies, my goal is to pursue an MS degree from your prestigious university and follow it up with a PhD, to pursue a career in research.

This interest had led me, in high school, to take up the Science stream with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. As a part of my Physics project, I had constructed Logic Gates and simple latches using basic circuit elements. This was when my fascination with the power of Electronics turned into passion. My quantitative and analytical abilities allowed me to score well in my Higher Secondary exams and I gained admission into the reputed Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College, for a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

During the course of my undergraduate study I was exposed to various courses with applications like Electromagnetic Fields, Control Systems, Measurements and Instrumentation, Linear Integrated Circuits, Electronic Circuits and Devices, Digital Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Digital Signal Processing. I gained familiarity with programming languages like C, C++.

In the Signal Processing course, my seminar on ‘Finite Impulse Response (FIR) Filters’– which deals with impulse response in finite duration – so captivated the Professor that she asked me to lecture on FIR topics to the next batch of students, the following year. That year, my seminar on ‘Radio Frequency and Operation of Multicavity Klystron’ also drew praise.

Given my keen interest in the latest technological advancements, I have attended many workshops outside college, such as the Techknow workshop at IIT Madras and the Networking workshop at HCL. I also underwent an internship at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on transmission and switching equipment’s. I also took an active part in a Robotics workshop at college that was conducted by S&S Technologies.

I felt to pursue a Master’s degree as my motivation and drive to gain knowledge and experimental skills are at their peak. My ultimate aim as a researcher is to help in the development of Electrical and Electronics.
