If I could earn a living doing what I love most it would be to help individuals who suffer from substance abuse. I want to become a substance abuse counselor because my father was an alcoholic and I wasn’t able to help save his life. I know we all have our issues and things that we go through and sometimes others take the wrong routes to deal with their pain. My dad drank everyday to help cope with his pain and his health insurance didn’t cover any counseling or rehab services to help him cope. Once I graduate I would love to open up a non-profit organization offering free services of counseling to those who don’t have any money and need help to overcome obstacles that brought them to the drastic points in their life. I don’t judge anyone for what they do or what has happened in their life. My only goals would be to help them get on the right path. By helping them I mean get clean, have ongoing counseling services, help financially with housing if needed, and employment. Everybody deserves a second chance and sometimes need someone to show them the right path. I am also a single parent of two boys and want them to see mommy making a difference and hopefully they will want to do the same once they get older. We all could use a little help and need a little push of motivation. It’s always nice to know that someone cares about you too.
