One of the reasons I was drawn to ACU was because of their Pre-Dental program. I want to make a difference by doing more and I see myself changing the world through the dental field. God has blessed me with a great family, time and resources and I want to use my gifts to help others. I discovered a few years ago that I really enjoy spending my time volunteering in the community. I may not have a lot to give financially, but I can certainly give myself and my time to help make someone’s life a little better. Eventually my goal is to travel to third world countries. I want to give something the people wouldn’t normally receive like medical attention or dental care. Matthew 5:14-16 says “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”. Some say they can be a light right where they are and sometimes that’s true but for me, what’s the point of being a light in an already lit room? What do we accomplish? God calls us to be a light in this dark world so we may make a lasting impression.
