Fashion designers are creative, they have an eye for color, texture, and pattern, they have the ability to visualize, to construct garments, and they enjoy following trends in fashion and clothing, all characteristics I believe I possess. Being a fashion designer is my dream job. I have big plans for my future in this career field. Very ambitious plans, but I’m preparing myself for the workload. As a plus sized woman, I dream of designing beautiful clothes that plus sized women don’t seem to get today. There are some clothing that are decent but we want clothes that are excellent. I don’t want to limit myself to just the plus sized woman but to make clothes for every teenager and young adult women who has the love of fashion. As a current Johnson & Wales student majoring in fashion, I hope to learn all that I can about this business. I want to take advantage of all the opportunities presented to me, may that be internships, volunteering, or seminars where I can further my knowledge and gain more experience in this field. I want to change the world’s view of stick skinny idols, Hollywood images, and unrealistic goals, to having them love the skin they’re in, knowing who the real women are, and giving women more confidence in themselves through my clothes. I dream of creating my own designs, preparing the real models to walk down the runway in my creations, showing the world my vision. This is my dream.
