Earning a living where I can help people achieve their goals, dreams, and become an asset to society is what I will do. Earning a masters degree in psychology will help me achieve my dream. Depression is a disease that is prevalent in today’s society and affects many people. Depression, anxiety, and other forms of mental illness need to be addressed promptly, as many take their own lives, or the lives of others as a result of their disease. I will help change the world by getting rid of the negative connotations attached to mental illnesses, by spreading knowledge and awareness. More people would be willing to seek help for their disease if society was more accepting. Society tends to attach harmful labels to people with mental illness; therefore, I will work toward the goal of abolishing the negative assumptions that are associated with mental illness. I will work to take away the humiliation that many people with mental illness experience. There is nothing shameful about mental illness.
I am currently working on my degree at the University of Michigan. Although it has been tough working full-time and attending college, I will achieve my goal. I am currently educating others so that they will have a different view of people with mental illness. Mental illness can affect anyone, regardless of age, culture, or financial status. I will continue to spread awareness about mental illness, and receive my masters in psychology.
