If I could earn a living doing work as an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon it would change the world by helping those in need to prevent oral infection and disease and to keep a healthy mouth. Without a healthy mouth the rest of the body would be unable to function properly. Without myself working in this career hundreds of people could potentially be in grave danger with conditions like overcrowding due to third molars growing in, fixing cleft palettes and lips, and removing any teeth that could cause a dental disease or infection.
One of my goals I would set is to complete my four years of college at the University of Washington Bothell to obtain my bachelor’s degree and achieve my major in biology. With this major I can have more of an understanding of the human body and of what to expect as I continue to expand my knowledge and prepare for dental school.
My second goal is to attend the University of Washington Seattle dental school. I will receive my doctorate and learn about as much as I possibly can about my profession of an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. While I am at school I will be working at a dental office starting as a sterilization tech and climbing up the ladder. I will learn knowledge of the careers and be able to appreciate that all the work I do in school is worth it to save people’s lives.
One final goal I would have is to create my own dental office. I would be my own boss and treat my staff as a family and be able to treat whoever comes in with the utmost care. I will make sure to have knowledge in anesthesiology so that I can be able to sedate my patients and be able to keep my patients comfortable and pain free. I know that I will be happy serving patients with the best care possibly for the several long years I work with my dream profession.
I walked down the hall and took a seat in the dental chair and my feet couldn’t reach the end. Listening to the kind voice of the dentist as she asks me how I am made me feel like part of a family. As she does her basic routine hygienic cleaning, I felt I was in good hands. The dentist then asks me, “What kind of fluoride do you want?” and I told her that I wanted the foam fluoride. I got the banana split flavor foam and the taste was amazing. It tasted just like a real banana split with whip cream, fresh bananas, and a hint of chocolate sauce. After the routine cleaning, she then asked me if I wanted to be a dentist. I said yes and she gave me a large model of a mouth and showed me how to brush. It was the most fascinating thing I ever saw. After that whole experience I got to pick out a toy to keep. The trip to the dentist was an outstanding experience and I was excited to go back again. This was the moment that I knew that this career I will love doing the most and the goals that help reach this point will lead me to help change the world.
