As cliche as it sounds, something I love doing, is volunteering. I do not necessarily get the chance to volunteer as often as I would like too; there is always something going on that needs my attention or that takes precedence over something people consider a ‘hobby.” Going into this year, there were so many adults telling me what to do or what to study, telling me that I will need a “well paying” job. The problem is that a “well paying job,” while getting paid well is good and I will be set for life, it does not necessarily mean that I would be happy. People do not get paid for volunteering, so the idea that I would want to spend my life working for free would not even register with most people. Any amount of volunteering would change the world. It only takes one person contributing their time to make an impact on someone else’s life. Personally, my dream is to travel to third world countries and essentially just help with anything I can. I have already planned to study abroad in my college years and there are many places that interest me, third world countries included. I’m hoping that while this is not quite my dream, it will suffice and give me a realistic chance to help.
