I hope to pursue mathematics and computer science because of my growing interest in problem solving. Not only will I be able to advance my own knowledge, but I also hope to diversify and improve the communities I am a part of by serving others. I know that the education provided by my four years at the University of Minnesota offers a great mixture of theoretical and applied science so that I can expand and deepen my knowledge, increase my passion for scientific learning, and eventually allow me to enter the real world with the necessary confidence to succeed and become a well-rounded person. As someone who wants to study mathematics and computer science, research is important to me and the quality of the University of Minnesota’s facilities (and the experienced faculty managing the facilities) is definitely very appealing. In addition, the internship opportunities offered by the University’s prime location and the collective passion for learning shown by the student body are factors which will fuel my passion for science and mathematics. After my education, I would like to continue researching and hopefully move into teaching in higher education. By teaching, I can reach tens of thousands of students over a significant amount of time and hopefully I would be able to influence them to such an extent that they would be motivated to do good and make the world a better place.
