Winston Churchill once said, ” We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give.” Through my own volunteer work I’ve learned how true that statement is. I’ve realized what I love most is helping others. If I could do anything I would be a lifetime volunteer, a profession of selfless acts. The definition and nature of the job itself would not only change the world but it would improve and progress our communities, thus sustaining them for future generations.
My job would aim to create an ideal community by bringing people together. Volunteerism in a career sense would provide communal personal development and allow the community as a whole to gain self-fulfillment, confidence, self-worth and self-esteem. The daily grind would create positive impact by creating a work environment that is an uplifting emotional experience. Career volunteers would gain new and different perspectives on their community, people, issues and beliefs that would lead to a greater social understanding. A perk of the job would be the constant introduction of new challenges. I would always be learning and developing as an individual, always progressing.
Goals: Increase community involvement, Set direct goals for each community, Raise awareness, Increase productivity in each community and Improve community health
I believe one duty of humankind is to lay the groundwork for future generations. Earning a living as a volunteer would allow me the opportunity to share my time and talents with those in need.
