My passion is singing because it allows me to explore the depths within me and learn more about myself. I love to express myself through singing because the voice is a powerful tool. Singing allows me to be myself, and it shows people the type of person that I am. My goal is to excel as a recording artist, and give back to the people that were my foundation.
My plan to achieve this goal is to build a fan base by putting song covers on YouTube, which I’ve started to do. While in school, I’ll enter talent showcases and write songs. I will also try to find a marketing internship to help me learn more about that field.
With a bachelor in vocal performance and a minor in marketing I will know what to do in certain business situations as a singer. I will know how to sell my talents and further expand my fan base. This will help me take control of my future as an artist, because I’ll be more knowledgeable about the music industry.
Combining these two interests will help me achieve my community-based goals. Being an entertainer brings a great deal of income; being a businesswoman will help me to maintain that income. With the money that I earn as a singer, I will be able to help my country of Liberia, other West African countries, and communities such as South Chicago. With perseverance and hard work, I will make my dream a reality.
