Leaving home after high school graduation was a rude awakening into adulthood. I found that it’s a tough life working for just above minimum wage and barely meeting basic needs. Since I was in “survival mode” for a years, it was hard to make plans for a better life. Eventually, I put myself through college and earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. I earned a 4.0 GPA and proved to myself that I have the potential for greatness. I feel best about myself when I am contributing my time and talents to my favorite charity, In My Father’s Kitchen, a local outreach for homeless and refugees. If I could I would find a way to support myself while working for a cause that I love which is to help those that feel hopeless, I would be changing the world. I believe every life is precious. I would use my gift of mercy to connect with the people and find ways to bridge them out of survival mode and into a peaceful life. I would hope that when they are firmly planted in a good place, they would lift others up. I know that most people are not far from homelessness, all it takes is a serious illness that insurance won’t cover or the death of a breadwinner. Help me earn my Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies so that I can be better equipped and meet the job requirements of working for an organization that helps the homeless and refugees.
