If I could earn a living doing what I do most I would be a praiseworthy costume and make-up designer for theatrical productions. I tried a few different jobs within the theatrical world while at High school and now at Westminster College before finding my home in designing costumes and make-up.
Westminster College has just hired on a new Costume Designer who I’ll be working with closely this upcoming year and learning everything I can. I will work far more hours in the costume shop learning everything I can so I can be as prepared as possible as I begin to design the costumes, hair, and make-up for the opera “Semele” that will open in January of 2015. This will be paid and it will give me invaluable experience as a designer. I’ve already started communication with the director on his needs and wants for the look of the show and the characters.
This will springboard designing more shows. As people see my work and appreciate my hard work, dedication, and talent I’ll be able to find more jobs and seek on new mentors to further my knowledge and experience. Next year I plan to intern in a theater where I can assist in costumes and make-up. This will further help my resume in preparation for graduating college and pursuing a career. My work won’t end with graduation as I will continue to work as much as possible doing the thing I love most.
