I have the goal, and will accomplish the goal, of being in a profession where I look forward to going to work every day. I am very spiritual and believe we all start out life with a predetermined purpose. I believe mine is to create a better society and to love. I started my career goals as being a juvenile attorney to help foster children. I have always been intrigued with the law and learning more about it.
However, recently I have decided to become a minister at my church. There is a woman who attends, that is starting up an organization to help foster children aging out of the system. I have talked to her about it, and plan to be fully involved once it gets off the ground. 80% of our prison population and 40% of our homeless population are foster kids who were kicked out on their 18th birthday. This one focus can change America in so many ways. Hopefully we can become a model for the rest of the world.
As a minister, I can focus on multiple contributions to society with multiple types of organizations. Once I receive my bachelor’s degree next year, I will be eligible to start work with non-profits, unlike waiting 3 years until I graduate law school.
My church has shown me that every day with my positivity, community work and just the love I give makes a difference. I can’t wait to see how much I better society from here.
