All aboard the Kapena Pearl! The Kapena Pearl Leadership Program caters to the growth and future of the South Pacific Nations. Our mission is to educate and empower young Pacific Islander leaders through cross-cultural learning while navigating the seas of our ancestors! Each week will be dedicated to learning the history and culture of a neighboring country in the tri-South Pacific region – Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia. The educational series is then integrated into real-world application. We have partnered with several youth-based organizations in Fiji, the Marshall Islands and the Kingdom of Tonga to bring the latter to fruition. Our young leaders will get a chance to apply their learned knowledge through week long community outreach in each country! Our planned outreach programs will give our young leaders the opportunity to learn about the community, create life-long relationships, and most importantly cultivate a strong foundation of self-awareness and cultural identity. Our vision to promote outreach and advocacy is supported by our sponsors at the University of the South Pacific, World Bank Group and the Polynesian Voyaging Society. Please submit a creative response to the following question – ‘What does being a leader mean to me? How am I a leader?’. We receive a number of applications so make sure yours is unique – be creative, be innovative. Good luck to all our applicants, the application pool is now open.
