In a world where “money is power,” individuals tend to think selfishly. However, the “what’s in it for me” attitude will corrupt, destroy, and demolish this world. In order to better the globe, we must stop thinking greedily and utilize individual skills to evolve the Earth. The word “if” doesn’t exist in relating this prompt to my future. I could have chosen a high paying major. Instead I chose to be a music educator. With news of schools cutting down or completely eliminating the arts, I believe it is my duty to strive to not only save the arts but to prove just how important the arts are to children pursuing an education. I would begin by securing a career as a teacher and begin to change lives one by one, encouraging students to express themselves through music and then to use their unique talents to change this world for the greater good. I would also hold assemblies, camps, and music days in which I would encourage children to use music in their daily lives: for fun, for expression, for a living. Even if music does not click with certain students, I hope to be a role model or an inspiration to others for them to do what they love with their lives and to make a career out of it. My goal is to raise the bar and challenge future generations to raise it even higher to do good in the world, and I am determined to succeed.
