If I could do anything in the world and make a living at it, I would want to be a writer. I absolutely love reading and writing, and I can’t imagine being able to continue to do so while earning enough to support myself. I want to be able to change lives through my writing. There were books I read when I was in elementary and middle school that took me to worlds I desperately wanted to live in, about heroes and heroines who changed the world and inspired me to do the same. In high school and college the books I read changed the way I saw the world. Some of them made me want to do more with my life, some of them just made me want to be a better person, to show more love for my family or be more honest. I want to be able to affect that kind of change in other people through my writing. I want to be able to write a book that stays with the people who read it, that pulls at something inside them. I know it’s going to be hard to get there. Writing is a tough career to make a living at. To get there, I would continue to study literature and creative writing to improve my skills. I would then travel and find a job that would help me gain experiences to write about, as well as earn enough to support myself while I write it.
