God’s word is like Himself… it (and He) is not dead, but alive. The library that is the bible (66 books), is not only a diagnostic but the prescriptive tool to how to change a person’s heart for the better. For instance I deceive myself and I do things that I know are not right. Everything that we run to help us deal with a sense of emptiness, confusion, anxiety, and shame (like money, sex, words of affection, notoriety, comfort, leisure, control, etc.) ultimately will leave us disappointed.
We are worshiping something, it is in our nature. We think of Idols as a Gold Calf made to worship. The reality is that we put idols above the unseen God that can range from physical things (food, material wealth, and aesthetics) to abstract pleasures (knowledge, social desirability, leisurely life, and even our successes).
What Jesus offers us is an invitation to put Him as the ruler of our hearts. He is the only one that knows us on the inside. He came down to redeem, people who are spiritually dead, a slave to harmful habits (sin) and that have no peace-hope-nor joy in their inner sole. Jesus willingly took our iniquities and gave us His unblemished life by being crucified. If we trust in who He said to be, and trust in what He did, then our eternity is secured. Thus naturally breathing into each of us a way to be truly satisfied, which breaks the chains of personal/relational problems.
