Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of helping the homeless. I saw them sleeping under bridges, and I thought how sad it must be to not have food. At the time, I thought candy was food. All I loved, and ever wanted to do was eat candy! So that’s where I decided I wanted to open a candy shop under every bridge that could provide “food” for the homeless.
Now, I’m much wiser, and have learned that providing cavities is not the way to help the homeless. What I do now is, whenever I go out to eat, I’ll buy an extra meal, chicken, rice, beans, and veggies, I’ll take it “to-go,” and give it to a homeless. I’ve also packed goody bags for them. These include a serving of peanut butter, some animal crackers, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb, baby wipes, lotion, and so on. However, homelessness needs much more attention than free meals and a goody bag.
If I could dedicate all my time helping those in need, particularly homeless, then I would. I would travel the world and build wells for those who don’t have access to clean water. Or build toilet facilities for those that need one. I’d love to foster new things to those who don’t have opportunities so that they can live and enjoy life, without worrying about basic needs.
Basically, and put simply, I want every person to get to see a world that’s worth living in.
