How many people claim they absolutely love their careers? Those who can are truly fortunate. Personally, I have always had quite the passion for animals, particularly dogs and horses. The compassion and empathy I possess has also given me the drive to work with disabled individuals and the elderly. The rush I experience from helping others makes my existence feel complete. Therefore, if I could earn a living doing what I love most, I would open an animal therapy facility for anyone needing rehabilitation, socialization, or just some extra companionship.
My animal therapy center would consist of rescued dogs and horses. Therefore, I would be aiding animals in need as well. The horses would mainly be used for disabled and/or mentally challenged patients needing physical therapy or help building confidence. The dogs would be utilized for companionship. The elderly would benefit from having a gentle, joyful friend to speak with and take comfort in. Mentally challenged people could benefit from having a non-judgmental companion to listen as they learn to read, or watch as they tackle a difficult math problem. All would discover the high quality of an animal relationship.
I believe that the mentally challenged, disabled, and elderly populations are often overlooked in our society. They all deserve some well-earned gratification. I would not be changing the world with this facility, but making one spot in it a brighter place. However, if everyone could pursue a selfless career, the world would be filled with more smiles, friends, and tail-wagging.
