Right now we are about a month shy of the 1 year anniversary of me finally finding my true passion in life! Small scale vegetable agriculture.
After working in conservation and disaster response for two years after high school and various short term jobs in search of my calling I became a farmer on a small organic farm. To my own surprise I completely fell in love. The production of local, pesticide/ GMO free, nutrient dense veggies and fruits causes not only myself, but all my amazing customers to constantly have a smile on their face and a happy body. Small farming is a lifestyle for the farmer themselves, but can largely become a lifestyle for customers and CSA members; who often can participate in farm work to reduce or eliminate the cost of their weekly veggies. Wether it is the food, the physicality, or getting out in the sunshine; communities are often changed when these types of farms pop up in both rural or urban areas.
My goals to make this dream happen is get serious farm/ homesteading experience first. I have done 1.5 seasons in Arizona, and will be managing a farm out in Ohio next season. On top of that I am attending University of Phoenix (online campus) working towards a business degree to further my ‘behind-the-scenes” skills.
Thanks for everything, I hope you decide to go to your local farmers market or check for a CSA near you, you won’t regret it!
