I have always wanted to travel and help those afflicted by physical disease and social sickness. By learning about the human body and psyche, I will be preparing myself to treat suffering patients and stand up against human trafficking in developing countries.

In parts of the world proper medical equipment and facilities are scarce and expensive, I want to provide healthcare to those who would not otherwise receive it.

With my influence as a humanitarian, I want to actively participate in saving enslaved women from illegal trading for sexual abuse. I read an article about a young girl who was mutilated and abused before she managed to escape her captors. Her story inspired me to bring hope to other young girls who are wrongfully held that they have value, that they are not forgotten, and that we are coming to rescue them. Specifically, I want to become involved with organizations that provide housing for those who have escaped.

I need to learn about treatment and prevention of all types of diseases, as well as effective ways to advocate against human trafficking. I plan to major in Biology with the hope to become a Doctor Without Borders.. After getting my degree at Utah Valley University I will go on to medical school, and I hope to study abroad both during and after my undergrad years.

I believe that making a change in the world isn’t about what’s handed to you, but it’s about how far you’re willing to go.
