I plan to double major in both education and mathematics. I have decided upon these majors because I am passionate about educating others and math is my strong suit. Being an educator is what I can do to be an active member of society that would benefit others. Through my experiences of working with various programs, I learned that education is essential to ensuring a successful future. Also working with children and fellow peers, I noticed math is a subject that students struggle with the most. Knowing that I want to be a math teacher I put all of my time finding programs that to get more hands on experience. For example, in high school I joined a club, Kid Math, that went to a neighborhood elementary school on Wednesday and tutor students in math. When I become a teacher, I want to inspire my students to pick careers that involve helping others.Receiving this scholarship would help me pursue my career and give me the opportunity to give back to my community. Also receiving this award, I would be able to reduce my college debts when I graduate.
