Nelson Mandela said, “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Education is the single most important thing one can attain. Education is the foundation to all of life; it sparks passion, it provides jobs and opportunities, it creates freedom. As I think about Frederick Douglas, as a slave, he was not able to get education freely, yet he was so eager and set his mind to learn the things that others were able to learn. As he became educated, he became free, literally and within his mind. If I could make a living doing anything, I would be a teacher. I would change the world by moving overseas and providing education to the ones who cannot afford it. The educated ones would be able to teach others and start a revolution in their country because of the knowledge they have received. There is nothing more beautiful than someone learning something new, understanding something for the very first time. In order to make this dream of mine a reality, I am going to major in Special Education with a double minor in Sign Language and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages so that I am able to teach as many people as I can.
