Seeing a smile, getting a hug, or seeing a tear because of your help and service is the most rewarding feeling ever. Serving others, helping kids in underprivileged areas and under developed countries is truly one of my passions. I have been so blessed to participate in a service program with 28 other senior high school students. We fundraised and prepared for nine months to teach Indian orphans the language that will help them escape the cycle of poverty they were born into. The experiences that I had in India are ever etched into my brain in my heart. These children, who lived in the armpit of the world, where clean drinking water was sparse and caretakers were even more rare, were the happiest, most humble people I have ever met. They served us more than I feel like we ever served them. This has inspired me. I want to help people. I want to give people opportunities and experiences to help them better their own lives. If I could earn a living doing anything, then I would want to teach children. I would want to build homes. I would want to take care of the lonely. If I only changed one child’s situation, then that would be enough. I want to make the world a better place by bettering the lives of those that cannot better it themselves. I want to be their guardian angel.
