If I could earn a living doing what I love the most, I would choose to be a Civil Engineer. Coming from El Salvador, a really small country in Central America, where living is very challenging because of its poverty level, has made me become really passionate about creating better living opportunities for others.
In El Salvador, many people live in cardboard and sheet plates made up homes because they cannot afford buying a regular home. Most of the time it is due to these people not being able to afford school, so they do not have any other choice but to work on the field and be happy with the little payments they get to provide for their families.
Fourteen years ago, I made the decision to look for a better education opportunity for my sister and me, and after graduating High School in El Salvador, my mother, my sister, and I, moved to the United States searching for that dream. The road has thrown a lot of challenges because of the lack of economic resources, but little by little we have been able to overpass such obstacles and achieve our dreams.
I was not able to go to college and major in Engineering; however, I was able to take most of my courses at a community college, which helped me transfer to Notre Dame de Namur University to study Business Administration. My dreams for helping others have not ceased, it fact I have gotten more passionate about helping others who might be in the position that I was many years ago. Studying Business will give me the necessary tools to get a job in a variety of companies, when the time comes and I become a manager, I will be able to create jobs for individuals that have as a goal to help others and to provide a home for their loved ones because they will have the resources to do it
