As I continue my junior at The Savannah College Of Art and Design, I think about the interesting journey I continued/continue to face. Majoring in film my dream is to be a casting director and to have the skills to fulfill any position in the film industry. Throughout college I have been told that my dream sounds difficult or impossible, but I am a firm believer that any dream can be achieved because after all the word impossible itself says I’m possible. When I took my first step toward making my dream a reality I was overwhelmed with the words why? And no. The word why came from family wondering why I was moving from Oklahoma to Georgia? And the word no came from various jobs I applied to once I finally settled in Georgia. Being broke and soaking into the hurt from family, I began to second guess myself in numerous ways. I began to rethink my skills professionally, academically and personally. I felt like giving up until one day I received a phone call about an interview and soon got a job and walking into SCAD for the first time gave me a sense of belonging. When experiencing these amazing opportunities I gained a new confidence and strength that I never knew. That is why I say to the younger generation that obstacles, hard work and doubt will come but through these trials you gain a better understanding of who you are and what you can handle.
