Kofi Annan once stated that “knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.” For the last twenty-five years of my life I have been learning about the world around me. Anyone and everything I encounter has the ability to teach me or share with me something new. The universe contains a plethora of information that has yet been discovered or understood. All I’ve ever wanted to do was see and experience the world and its inhabitants. As a little girl I would endlessly browse through the pages of National Geographic or sit in front of the television for hours watch Discovery Channel. The images that were exposed to me quelled my desire to explore everything outside my home. From that point on I’ve worked hard to follow my dream and attempt to make it a career. Getting a degree in anthropology has felt like a step in the right direction. I drive eighty miles to school every other day because I enjoy studying and working hard to eventually achieve my dream. I hope I can use the methods I’ve learned through my education to explore every corner of this world and be able to share my knowledge with others. Everyone has a story to tell and I want to help share it.
