When I was a kid my dreams revolved solely around myself; being a princess or some other blissful nonsense. At a very young age I realized that this was not reality, and I became much more serious. When I was twelve I knew that I wanted to help people, and to this day I still want to help people; specifically children. If I could do anything in the world, I would be a Psychologist, specializing in sexual abuse.
Due to my past I know that sexual abuse is a huge issue in our world today. I would do anything to stop it completely and will do whatever it takes to do my part. Sexual abuse is a domino effect; if I can intervene between one domino hitting another, I will gladly do so in order to keep innocent dreams alive.
Sexual abuse, especially in children, breaks my heart. In order to pursue my dream, I am enrolling in a Psychology major at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After I receive my Bachelor’s Degree, I want to work toward a Master’s Degree in Psychology so that I can become a licensed Psychologist.
Children need to feel free to dream, whether it is to be a princess or a superhero, no child should have to kill their dreams the way I did because of sexual abuse. This world could use a few more dreams, and I am going to do my part to see that they are kept alive.
